Mona McCrea is an experienced Marine Zoologist (BSc Hons) and Environmental Scientist (MSc). She is passionate about the marine environment and moved her focus to children’s education, founding SEASHOREKIDS in 2014. Her aim is to make Marine Biology accessible and fun to kids (and adults) of all ages. She offers a fun learning environment where children can put down their books and computers, put on their wellies and get outdoors.
Being an island, we are never far from the sea. Mona’s aim is to develop children’s interest in Irelands rich marine environment. She encourages them to search for plants and animals which she hopes will give them an interest and respect for marine life in the future, encouraging any budding marine biologists along the way. She has been teaching children at primary and secondary schools in Dublin and Wicklow as well as summer camps, private groups and birthday parties.
NEW – SEASHOREKIDS is delighted to be the Outreach Centre for schools in Dublin and Wicklow with the Marine Institute’s Explorers Education Programme.
The Explorers Education Programme offers a range of marine themed modules for primary school students and teachers in the classroom, through blended learning as well as out-door education.
